A conversion went wrong

This is the most useful thing you can tell us, and the hardest to guess at from our side. Please say which two formats were involved, what you expected and what you got. Do not attach the file unless you are comfortable sending it — we can usually work it out without one, and a converter that asks for your files by email would be an odd thing.

A format is missing

Tell us which one and what you need to turn it into. The list of formats grows in the order people ask for them.

Reporting misuse

If you believe Quinvert is being used to process illegal material, write to the same address with Abuse in the subject line. Reports are acted on rather than filed. Note that conversions running inside a visitor's browser never reach our servers at all, so there is genuinely nothing for us to inspect in those cases — what we can act on is anything that touches our infrastructure.

Data protection

Requests about personal data go to the same address. The privacy page explains why the answer is usually that we hold nothing.

What we cannot help with

We cannot recover a file you have already converted. Nothing is stored — a conversion running in your browser leaves no copy anywhere, and the few that run on our server delete their working directory as soon as the result has been read. There is no history, no account and no bucket to look in, which is the same property that makes the privacy claim true. If a download went missing, the original file on your own device is still the only copy that exists.

We also cannot tell you what was in a file. The server never sees the ones converted locally, and it forgets the others immediately.

How long a reply takes

Quinvert is run by a small team rather than a support department, so a reply usually comes within a few working days. Abuse reports are looked at first. There is no paid tier and no priority queue — everybody writes to the same address and gets read in the order it arrives.

Before you write

Two things answer most messages faster than we can. If a conversion is refused, the page for that pair says why — some are genuinely unavailable, and each one states what is blocking it rather than failing silently. And if a format seems to be missing, the list of conversion formats is generated from what actually ships, so it is never out of date with the software.
